Catafalque (Bel) Live @ Sojo, Kessel-Lo. Belgium. November 1998 (Re-up w/Video !) (Rare Death metal)
Full live set here by short-lived Belgian Death Metal band CATAFALQUE, featuring the ex vocalist of DREFT & ex - Drummer of ABORTED. They released a demo & a cd in the late 1990s & then broke up. One of the guitarists was also in ICONOCLASM !
Musically, CATAFALQUE really remind me of AT THE GATES, that kinda style anyway, with great leads too.
9 tracks in 42 minutes, also includes a cover by MASSACRE (From Beyond). First time on UA-cam !

Usurper (US) Live @ The Steeple, Waregem. BE November 28th 1998 (Re-up w/video ! Frostian Death !!)
Переглядів 602 години тому
USURPER were a pounding death metal band from Illinois & sound like a heavier ( & often slower & Faster..) CELTIC FROST. Basically, they are the band i wished CF sounded like when "Into The Pandemonium" came out. Massive heavy riffs, a pounding growling bass & a vocalist that does tons of "Death grunts". They often veer into Black Metal-style Blast beats, but still sound super heavy, unlike the...

Norwegian band AURA NOIR here, tearing it up in Waregem, Belgium back in late 1998. Super tight Blackened Thrash metal which reminded me of early DESTRUCTION playing KREATOR's "Pleasure to Kill" album, but faster. Great stuff ! Audio/Picture is good enough generally. 12 tracks (i think) in 42 minutes. First time on UA-cam !

RITUAL CARNAGE were a Japanese Thrash unit (With an American singer, i think) who sounded like SODOM's "Persecution Mania" album really. Which isn't a bad thing ofcourse, especially if you like that album. Here they are playing in Waregem, Belgium late 1998 along side AURA NOIR (Nor) & DRILLER KILLER (Swe). Just a partial set here, consisting of 6 songs in 22 minutes. Also contains two covers, ...

EVIL SINNER were a Belgian Speed/Thrash metal band that was around from 1986 til about 1991. Influenced, initially, by the Bay Area bands like EXODUS, early METALLICA & the German bands like DESTRUCTION, KREATOR etc, but were pretty fast in general (for that time anyway). They put out 2 demo tapes, 1987 & 1988 & one album in 1989. Here the band has put on some public dress/stage rehearsal with a...

In March 1994, The Melvins played 2 nights at the Democrazy venue in Gent, Belgium on their "Houdini Euro Tour". The 1st night was a "regular" set & the 2nd night (this one) was a special "Request" show , where the audience could choose what the band would play of a mostly-existing playlist. Couple of nice surpises on here, like the quiet version of "Oven" & 2 cover songs i never have heard the...

A harsh & punishing set here by Japan's ZEVI GEVA from early 1995. Heavy swarths of Noise Rock & Dissonant "Metal" much akin to GODFLESH (but not as slow), HEAD OF DAVID (But Angrier) & CASPAR BRÖTZMANN MASSAKER. Featuring legendary artist KK NULL on vocals & Guitar & ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE member Tabata Misuru also on Guitar. This gig was a proper face melt in terms of volume & harsh frequencies....

Here's KREATOR's full live set from their gig with VOIVOD & EVIL SINNER in Harelbeke, Belgium Late 1987. VOIVOD & KREATOR were on tour together in Europe at the time. Fast & intense Teutonic Thrash . Quite a few tracks from their (then) latest album "Terrible Certainty", but also a good selection of older material from "Endless Pain" & "Pleasure to Kill". Also includes their cover of TYGERS OF ...

Here's another rare early HERESY video i recently got digitally transferred from a 35 year old VHS video tape. This time, it's HERESY's 2nd visit to Belgium, supporting kult Thrash metal band CYCLONE, who were also involved in the HC/Crossover scene & actually lent HERESY some equipment (Guitar & bass amp if i remember correctly). Filmed in early 1987, the band still had Mitch Dickinson (Warham...

The LEFT is the enemy of the working class.
I remember listening to Skrewdriver in North Jersey back as a 13-year-old in 1985.
Great group that I've only just discovered. I LOVE When The Boat Comes In, superb song!
I can feel the Renaissance coming . . especially with our friends in l$RA-HELL doing what they're doing. More and more people are sick of witnessing what this band were singing about !
Wow !
de Laaslöpp mache good Krach
European Brotherhood! 14! ✊🏻 W.P.!
Such a killer band. Never got to see them. Thanks
justin is playing downstrokes, that's a great guitarrist
Wisdom lost.
There is a buzz in the hair....
What a gem! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure ! Enjoy !
1998 - wow!
nice piece of history!
This ISN'T a BBC doc. That's Paul Burnley narrating. This was an audio documentary he did in 2003.
Kid said OVERKILL sucked lol I think not, especially in '87..
agreed ! "Taking over" is a super heavy album !
Wow, I have never seen this. Great set, except for Psychotic Reaction, i hate that song, but they did play The Sleeper and Opium Eater. Incredible riffs! Thanks.
Zeni Geva live in the early 90s was probably the heaviest show I ever saw. Their sound just hangs in the air. I read a review that said that it sounds like, "Black cottage cheese coming out of your speakers."
Amen to that !
I am surprised they still play Show Off Your Red Hands so late in 1989. This song is from 1985 and kind of the first draft that became Don't Piece Me
what a complete fuckin idiot Donaldson was a racist bigoted prick ..also he was going on about 'puffs' he was gay himself visted seedy bars for sex like the vile nick crane
You'd know about that kind of thing, wouldn't you Mally 😁
Faust are the real performance artists, thank you for uploading
I saw Kreator earlier that year at Fenders Ballroom.
With Voivod, Nuclear Assault & Saint Vitus? Lucky bastard 😀 actually, i still have that flyer for that show.
@Malegys I think I was in the 12th grade already... I remember I got in the pit for "Hang the Pope" by Nuclear Assault...
I like the glitches good job...
Hell yes
Used to correspond with Jan in the '90's. Top bloke. Always signed off his letters with "you pal, Jan Ag".
Never seen this..incredible
I'm not surprised, seeing as i filmed it & only recently got the tape digitized :)
this is so cool
what's your fave song?
@@Malegys Circles gather off their Songs Dances Drums ep is probably one of my favorite emoviolence tracks of all time
Babe wake up new early N.D footage dropped
Saw them at Newcastle Mayfair 2 days earlier on the Good Friday. Still got the bootleg great show
Really love the energy!! Awesome. Meanwhile, Gen Z stream live study sessions on here and buy rainbow sets of highlighter pens and line these up across the desk. I'm legit serious.
bbwhahahah 😀
I have got Blue Cheer New Improved signed by Dickie Peterson And Paul Whaley and a poster Signed by Duck Donald
I have the cd not the best quality but hey it was recorded in 1968
I used to have this on a similar Maxell tape that I got in a trade, from a fellow named Chris BCT in San Diego if I'm remembering right. It was a lot more warbly than this source, and ran a little bit fast just like this one. I recall that there was a very limited official release of the master on CD (circa 2005-07), and that's when I realized that the speed was a bit off. Back when I first started collecting tapes, I didn't have much of an ear for little details like that - most everything I was listening to was raw, and if it rocked, I was happy. It wasn't til quite a bit later that I actually started putting real time and a careful ear into tidying up audio and putting together nice digital remasters. Sadly, I eventually lost my whole collection, and have slowly been cobbling bits and pieces of it back together. It's great to be able to hear recordings like this again, almost a decade later. Thank you for all your efforts in uploading and sharing these rare gems on your channel!
It's just so cool that people like yourself are making their collections available for everyone to enjoy on demand. I remember how intimidating it was as a young teenager trying to get into collecting live recordings, back in the early days of the internet when your only option was to send an unsolicited email to someone you found on Etree and hope they'd be willing to send you some discs/tapes without having anything to give them back in return. Thankfully, some of those folks were extremely kind in helping me get a little collection started so I could start trading for real. I remember Chris BCT in particular because he agreed to send me about ten CD-Rs that I was interested in (mostly FEAR and Black Flag sets), and when the package arrived, it was too big to fit in my parents' mailbox - he'd taken the time to copy more than 60 discs for me (on one of the slow 4x stand-alone burners of the day), all rare live stuff that he thought a 13-year-old aspiring punk should listen to. The kindness of that gesture still stands out in my mind all these years later. And I see a huge parallel between what Chris did for me and what folks like yourself are doing for a new generation of kids in the era of high-speed internet. Sure, it probably meant a little more back then because you had to both work and wait for it - I remember the visceral excitement I'd feel when a box of tapes or CDs was waiting for me on the porch after school - but it's such an amazing thing that kids today can go on UA-cam and find live sets from virtually any band in seconds. The barrier to entry is so much lower, and I just think that's incredible - and it's all thanks to the hard work that uploaders like yourself put in. So I just wanna express my gratitude for everything you're doing here - as someone who still remembers the anxiety that sending those first few emails created within me, as well as the unique thrill of receiving that first parcel in the mail.
the audio for an old vhs is so good
I did Remaster the audio, but the original was very good to start with.
Thanks heaps for putting this up. Always makes me laugh listening to this show. Fuck Chris was a funny cunt.

It is indeed. Rehearsing in 1982 (or just has a guitar on his lap)

HE's called Josh...
I used to help Jacques out in his shop on Saturdays back in the 90s/early 2000s. RIP to a wonderful man ❤
Amazing, my favorite era of Sonic Youth, this and Daydream Nation! Thanks uploader 🙂🤗😱
What a great documentary. Bringing back some fond memories of when I used to follow Skrewdriver. I was at the battle of Waterloo but never made the gig as I was trapped with about 70/100 others on Waterloo station. ( we smashed the reds and the gig was played, victory was ours) Listening to lyrics from free my land, Europe awake and voice of Britain, Ian was right wasn’t he? ( even the biggest lefty couldn’t argue against that) R.I.P Ian x
yes
wasnt there a studio record from this tour, I feel like it also had the cows?
I think there was a compilation 7"? Not sure, can't remember.
I wonder if they realize how California they sounded(not that it matters). Especially the vocals, but in the sound too at times. Vocals kinda remind me of christ on parade, and others. If i heard this when it came out i would have no idea this was east coast.
Does anyone know if any of the other bands got recorded that night?
While I to own this particular *Broken Bones* release, in addition to 3 others *(F.O.A.D, Bonecrusher & Decapitated)* they have always been the band, when I need to give my ears a rest & chill out, I throw on the turntable & listen to. Which is also a real trip, except to say that if someone who had never heard of the band came to the table expecting to hear an equal & or ‘harder/heavier’ version of *Discharge* (because of who was in the band) to come out of the *Broken Bones* camp, they will be sadly disappointed. IMHO, of course. ✌🏼
Shitting Hell! . What a band. Had all the recs. They never came to the UK from what i can rememeber?
I thnk they did have some gigs planned in the UK in 1990 as far as i remember, but defo didn't see em live there.
Amazing recording- thank F it was saved, like you said. Been reading their timeline over at the BP website. They did their final show in the US, flew to Berlin to record in the studio (it was filmed and you can watch it), then left Berlin for good for this one-off show in London, their former disastrous base - then left for a farewell tour of NZ and Oz. Then back to London for their last studio time. The London show was Mick Harvey's final show with the band. He would join The Bad Seeds later in the year, of course.
Rulers of the Night (last song) is 2 different demos. And tempos. Switched in the middle 27:38. Wth!
I really miss not being able to make a living playing this style. :( I loved it.
